Sorry, I couldn’t resist the alliteration.
I’m hosting a birthday party for two of my children this weekend. I’ve got a big to-do list. I love lists. Have to have them. Anyone else can’t survive without them?
There needs to be some cleaning done first. Granted, my house is in far better condition than it usually is. It’s actually had a few cleanings since the last birthday party. ( few meaning major overhaul). But it still needs to be gone over lightly.
Next comes the menu. Who is a fan of The Pioneer Woman? Check her out. You will be hooked. She makes some great food and she is stinking hilarious. Her recent food posts (she’s also featured on the food network channel on Saturday mornings) inspired me to make the same meal for my party.
I will be making-
Rosa Maria Salad- also called Yankee Salad or Ambrosia Salad- a fruity cooked custard poured over pasta mixed with cool whip pineapple, mandarins, and maraschino cherries. YUM!
Yummy Rolls- Made by my sis-in-law Anne
The best part is that I can make a lot of these things the day before and have minimal cooking the morning of the party! Yay!
Perry House Ideas-
A while back I showed pictures of the entryway of the house we want to purchase. I thought I would go into a little more of the details for changing the half bath/laundry room. Laundry rooms should be a place that is cute and fun, right? It makes the task of doing laundry a little more bearable. Here is a couple shots I got of the room-
Sorry, I just realized those shots are identical except I turned my camera for the second shot. It didn’t really change the view though.
Here are my ideas-
- remove closet door and put up an old screen door in its place
- continue tile on floor from entryway
- change window covering to roman shade or plantation shutter
- build a storage unit next to washer and dryer with a usable countertop area
- get different cupboard doors for cabinets above washer and dryer
- change lights
- paint all woodwork white
- change vanity to something like this
or even try to find a sink like this
I’ve seen a few of these sinks for sale on ebay, but they are not cheap.
Well, those are some of the ideas floating around in my head. I challenge you to look at your own home with fresh eyes and see what things could use some sprucing up.
And let me know if you try any of those recipes.
Have a great weekend
